This is pretty much what Keke Rosberg did repeatedly as his Goodyear-shod Theodore TR1 brushed past the barriers at Monte Carlo. Despite all his valiant efforts, Nico’s father would not make the cut and fail to qualify for the 1978 Monaco Grand Prix. He’d come back stronger though and even tame the narrow streets of the Principality to win in 1983, proudly powering the #1 Williams as the reigning F1 world champion.
