Isack Hadjar, Racing Bulls (Did Not Start): 3/10
Hadjar failed to even get through the formation lap, spinning his VCARB 02 on the exit of the second corner and destroying his rear wing on the barriers. It was a real shame for the French rookie, who was inconsolable after what can only be described as a careless mistake. P11 in his first Qualifying session shows that the youngster is quick on a single lap considering it was his first competitive F1 outing, but is his head screwed on tight enough for the rigours of the pinnacle of open-wheel motorsport?
Jack Doohan, Alpine (Retired, lap 1): 3/10
Despite failing to make it into Q3 like his teammate, Doohan was on for an improved lap time in his last flying lap on Saturday before a Hamilton spin just ahead derailed his chances of a higher starting position. Either way it didn’t matter; Doohan committed another unforced crash by a rookie on the opening lap, meaning the Australian walked away empty-handed and with his tail between his legs at his home Grand Prix.
