Charles Leclerc, Ferrari (P8): 6/10
The only positive thing that happened in Leclerc’s race was a superb start that saw the Monegasque move up three positions on the opening lap into fifth position. He eventually fell behind Tsunoda, went for a spin in the final sector and, like his teammate Hamilton, came into the pits for Intermediate tyres way too late. Despite scoring points in a decidedly average Ferrari, it was a weekend to forget for Leclerc.
Nico Hulkenberg, Kick Sauber (P7): 8/10
Call it luck, but with experience comes the intuition to make the right strategic calls at the right time. This is exactly what Hulkenberg did, as he switched between different tyre compounds at the opportune moments to claim six points in a car that has no right to score even a single point. But that wasn’t all: Hulkenberg also enjoyed an amazing race start, climbing up a trio of positions before the first Safety Car. A great day for the German.
