Is Max Verstappen a true contender for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship? Or is the gap simply too large for the Dutchman to close down? That and more were revealed following the conclusion of Sunday's United States Grand Prix. So, who were the winners and losers after 56 laps around the Circuit of the Americas?

Carlos Sainz Jr., Williams (Retired, lap 6) 4/10

Sainz tried to channel his inner matador but ended up in a messy tangle with Antonelli’s Mercedes on lap six. A reckless lunge that screamed “points? Who needs ‘em!” He owned the mistake - and a five-place grid drop in mexicon for good measure - post-race, but with a strong qualifying in the bag, this was a siesta Williams didn’t need.

Pierre Gasly, Alpine (P19) 3/10

Gasly’s nightmare streak continues. He hovered near the top ten early but had zero chance of scoring points. A sluggish pitstop compounded the misery, and Alpine’s plodding pace dragged him down to last by the flag. Not the sort of rebound the Frenchman hoped for.
