Liam Lawson, Racing Bulls (P12) – 6.5/10
Lawson was entirely robbed of a meaningful result. After getting off the line well, engine lag on the safety car restart left him dead in the water entering Turn 1, where he was clobbered from behind. Driving a wounded car with floor damage for the remainder of the race made scoring points impossible, but he recovered bravely.
Nico Hulkenberg, Sauber (P11) – 4/10
An unusually sloppy outing for the German veteran. After fighting his way into the top ten, Hulkenberg got caught napping on a restart, allowing Bearman past, before clipping the wall with just two laps remaining. The new chassis survived, but dropping out of the points due to unforced errors so close to the flag is inexcusable.
