Sergio Perez admits he is counting down the races until he gets his hands on the updated Force India VJM08.
Force India will launch a B-spec car in time for the British Grand Prix, with the update likely to be tested in Austria. While the team has been running an underdeveloped 2015 car so far, it has still managed to pick up regular points, with Perez’s seventh place in Monaco taking the team’s tally to 17 points so far this season and moving it up to sixth in the constructors’ championship.
Despite the strong last result, Perez is looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the upgraded car. Speaking exclusively to F1i at the Hype Energy USA launch party in Nashville on Tuesday, when asked how the new car is coming along, Perez replied: “It should be ready in two more races.
“We should have it for Silverstone. Hopefully it is ready for us to test in Austria first during the two days there after the race, and then we can make sure we get plenty out of it when we get to Silverstone.”
However, Perez is confident Force India will still be competitive with the current car at this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, saying he is driving better than ever heading to Montreal.
