Jenson Button admits it is "not a given" he will stay with McLaren in 2016, saying he is aware of options elsewhere.

At the British Grand Prix, Ron Dennis said McLaren is not thinking about its future driver line-up because Button is on a two-year contract. However, F1i understands the deal is structured as a one-plus-one, and when asked if Dennis' comments are an indicator he will be in F1 next year, Button replied: “It is not a given, no – there are always options everywhere.”

However Button - who was speaking at the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon in Derby - says he too is not focused on next season yet.

“We are not thinking about next year. We are thinking about trying to improve the car this year. We have got a lot of work on our hands, and it is going to be a tough year but we are giving it our all."

McLaren reserve driver Kevin Magnussen and GP2 championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne have both been linked with Button's seat next season.
