Perez set to stay at Force India

Sergio Perez is set to remain at Force India as he finalises the terms of his contract for next season.

Force India announced Perez would drive for the team in 2015 and 2016 at the end of last season, but the contract was structured as a one-plus-one deal. Having previously told F1i he wants to sort out his future as quickly as possible, Perez now confirms he is set to stay.

"For me I think the news is coming quite soon," Perez said. "Obviously I have a contract with the team. As you know I have a group of sponsors that we are trying to make the announcement all together, so in that respect it's all clear.

"I think quite soon. We are getting to the point where very soon things should be announced. So I expect to be able to announce my plans hopefully before the next race."

Asked if he looked at options elsewhere, Perez replied: "No, I have a contract here."

And Perez says a longer term deal would be of interest to him based on Force India's progress over recent seasons.

"It's things that we are definitely discussing as well. Obviously the team is going upwards and is really pushing. I know the plans of the team so I am really happy to stay here."

Team-mate Nico Hulkenberg signed a new deal keeping him at Force India for the next two seasons earlier this week, with Perez saying: "It's great news for the team, I think he's a great driver."
