American businessman Tavo Hellmund has revealed he is working on a new F1 project in North America.
Hellmund was instrumental in ensuring the current United States Grand Prix returned to the calendar at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, while he also worked on the Mexican Grand Prix project which came to fruition with this weekend's race in Mexico City.
With Bernie Ecclestone keen to have more races in America, Hellmund told NBC over the Mexican Grand Prix weekend he is working on a potential new race in the US.
“We’re looking at a project that’s probably two weeks away from being able to talk about it, then looking also maybe making an investment with a team," Hellmund said. “It would be North America.”
Ecclestone is known to be targeting another round in America, with California emerging as his preferred location while he also did not rule out potentially revisiting the Grand Prix of America plan which would have seen a race taking place around the streets of New Jersey.
