Rosberg happy to shake off ‘pretty dark’ title defeat

Nico Rosberg admits to feeling in a “pretty dark” place after losing the 2015 title to Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, but is happy to have turned things around over the past two race weekends.

The German is coming off a pair of consecutive wins secured in Mexico and Brazil, while also enjoying a streak of five pole positions in qualifying. Rosberg is also happy to leave behind the error he committed in the US Grand Prix and which effectively enabled Hamilton to seal the crown.

“I'm really enjoying the moment because after Austin when Lewis won the championship and it did not go my way – I made the mistake and things like that – it was pretty dark, not fun,” Rosberg said in a video shared across his official Twitter account. “I really thought about that because I really want to come back and come back stronger after difficult phases.

“I'm really glad because it's worked out. I've come back stronger, I've had five poles in a row, two race wins in a row, dominating the race weekends - pace wise also, just being the quickest out there. So I'm pleased with that and glad I managed to turn it around like that.”

Although his late charge will not change the outcome of the championship, Rosberg, who beats Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel to the runner-up spot with victory at Interlagos, intends to ride the momentum into the season finale and make it a stepping stone for 2016.

“One race to go in Abu Dhabi and I want to go out and try to win as well. The side effect is also that it’s already a little bit of a build-up to next year which we're doing at the moment, so it's always better to be up in front than behind. So I'm glad and I'm going to keep pushing like this.”
