Ricciardo set to star in new scripted F1 series on Hulu

Daniel Ricciardo looks set to have his own online mini-series that will chronicle the fictional life and times of various characters in Formula 1 according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Streaming platform and Disney affiliate Hulu has put the project, which will be executive produced by Ricciardo, on its rails.

The half-hour scripted series, which is still in its early development stages, is currently searching for writers but will involve production companies ABC Signature, Lionsgate Television and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Phoebe Zimmer and Sydney Title.

Production houses in Hollywood appear eager to capitalize on Formula 1's growing success in the U.S., with several projects either in production or in pre-production.

Lewis Hamilton is involved in the production of a feature film starring Brad Pitt and directed by Top Gun's Joseph Kosinki which was recently picked up by Apple Original Films.

But the seven-time F1 world champion is also involved in a documentary series with Apple that will reportedly follow the Briton, with its crews given unprecedented access to the driver and to his Mercedes team.

Furthermore, famed Hollywood director Michael Mann is working on a biopic that will chronicle the life of Enzo Ferrari, with Oscar nominated actor Adam Driver in the role of the legendary Commendatore.

Finally, filming is well underway for Season 5 of 'Drive to Survive' produced by Box to Box Films for streaming service Netflix.
