Haas’ Kevin Magnussen will extend his 2022 season with a few stints in the Gulf 12 Hours endurance in Abu Dhabi onboard a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo that he will share with his father Jan.
The pair will be joined in the final round of the 2022 International Challenge that will take place at Yas Marina on 9-11 December by entrant and MDK Motorsports team owner Mark Kvamme.
The trio's MDK Motorsports Ferrari will receive technical support from AF Corse.
The Gulf 12 Hours, which is scheduled just over two weeks after F1’s finale in Abu Dhabi, will mark Magnussen’s first sportscar race since his outing last January with Chip Ganassi Racing’s #02 Cadillac DPi V.R. at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Haas charger says the plan to race with his father and Kvamme at Yas Marina was struck up last May at the Miami Grand Prix.
“Mark and I met at the Miami Grand Prix weekend and somehow the idea of racing together in Abu Dhabi turned up,” said the Haas F1 driver.
“We called my father – and the team was set. MDK Motorsports is driven by passionate and professional racers, and I enjoy working with these guys.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together. Of course, I’m also extremely grateful to be given another chance of driving together with my father – and hopefully even trying to win a race.”

“I had the chance of driving the Ferrari 488 at Le Mans in 2020, and it’s a very proper race car. Combine that with an experienced team and three drivers that really want to race, and let’s see what we can do. I’m sure it’s going to be fun!”
The Gulf 12 Hours won’t be the first time the Magnussens share a drive together, with the Danish pair steering a High Class Racing-entered Oreca 07 in the LMP2 class at Le Mans last year.
