Carmen Jorda’s promotion to the role of development driver for Lotus has been met with a strong reaction from GP3 drivers.
Lotus announced on Thursday afternoon that Jorda would join the team as development driver, attending a number of races with a view to driving the E23 at some stage this season.
Jorda has most recently raced in GP3 over the past three seasons, with 44 starts yielding a best result of 14th place. Her appointment as part of an F1 team - with Lotus saying she will help develop its 2015 car - has led to a strong reaction from two of her former GP3 competitors on social media.
Rob Cregan - Jorda’s team-mate at Ocean Racing Technology in 2012 - tweeted:
Carmen jorda couldn't develop a roll of film let alone a hybrid f1 car, f1 is about talent not money and nagging up fake positions

While Richie Stanaway, who won two races in GP3 last season, also responded to the announcement:
@Lotus_F1Team @CarmenJorda LOL — Richie Stanaway (@RichieStanaway) February 26, 2015
And GP2 driver Mitch Evans also added a sarcastic response to the news:
@Lotus_F1Team @CarmenJorda it's not April 1st yet
