It's Friday the 13th Part 2 as we head back to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona for the afternoon practice session.
So far everyone's luck has been pretty good, with no major incidents to report from this morning's 90-minute session. The two Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen topped the timesheets ahead of the two Mercedes team mates Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, but the red cars tried out the soft tyres while the Silver Arrows stuck to medium compounds which may explain the situation.
It's been revealed that Lewis Hamilton is to receive modified engine components in Spain after the problems he faced in the last two races. Will that be enough to put him back on top, or will Rosberg claim his eighth consecutive Grand Prix win this weekend? If he pulls it off he'll break a current tie with Alberto Ascari and Michael Schumacher, and put himself just one behind all-time record holder Vettel.
Behind Ferrari and Mercedes came the Red Bull drivers with Daniel Ricciardo leading the way but a most impressive sixth place in his maiden outing in the car for Max Verstappen after his surprise promotion from the sister Toro Rosso team in the interval since the Russian Grand Prix.
Verstappen's former team mate Carlos Sainz is in eighth place splitting the two Williams drivers of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa, while Fernando Alonso brought cheer to the McLaren garage by rounding out the top ten ahead of Renault's Kevin Magnussen. Meanwhile Daniil Kvyat - back at Toro Rosso after being swapped with Verstappen - was 12th fastest.
