The seventh race weekend of the season gets underway at 10:00 local time at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, one of the most popular venues on the F1 calendar.
While local weather was damp and cold on Thursday, the sun is now back in Montreal, though forecast for the entire weekend could throw up a few surprises.
Having finally ended his win drought in Monaco last time out, triple world champion Lewis Hamilton will be looking to extend his momentum in a bid to further close the gap to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in the Drivers’ standings.
Other storylines include Daniel Ricciardo’s reaction following his Monte Carlo heartbreak. The Australian told reporters that he needed a few days to cool off after a Bull pit stop blunder cost him the win in the Principality.
His young team-mate Max Verstappen will try to bounce back from a scruffy Monaco outing that saw him display his now trademark overtaking prowess but ended with costly crashes in both qualifying and the race.
After a somewhat underwhelming opening third to its 2016 campaign, Ferrari will be looking to finally kick start its season after spending another three engine development tokens for a new spec of turbocharger in Montreal.
Rival power unit manufacturer Honda has also dipped into its token allocation, with the Japanese constructor providing partner team McLaren with a new turbo as well.
This year’s Canadian all starts here with FP1 at 10am local time (15pm BST). We'll be bringing you all the news and information from trackside as it happens on F1i's live page.
