Pascal Wehrlein's remarkable performance in Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix, in which the Manor driver finished 10th, now means that Sauber is the only team which remains without any points in the current championship.
Starting at the back of the pack, Sauber's Felipe Nasr actually put in a great performance, making his way into the top 10 and consistently racing there by the half-way mark before falling back after a change of tyres.
"Most people stopped under the Safety Car and I had to stay out," Nasr explianed.
" If I fitted the Super Soft [under the Safety Car] there was not enough tyre left to go to the end.
"It was a shame, if the Safety Car came maybe 10 or 15 laps later then it would have been ideal for us to fight for a point."
The Brazilian admitted the result was the best he could have achieved, but Manor's performance was not lost on him.
"For sure it's something that opens our eyes, let's say," said Nasr when asked about Wehrlein's point.
"We definitely need to raise the bar and for that we need the updates for the car. I'm pretty sure they [Manor] have been improving their car race by race steadily and it's time for us to do it – I'm sure points are not too far [away] for us."
