American youngster Santino Ferrucci will drive for Haas during the post-race test following the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Ferrucci was announced as a Haas development driver earlier this year and has been competing in this year's GP3 Series for DAMS, but has yet to score a point in the opening four races. He will drive on both days of the Silverstone test as Haas used its race drivers Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez during the two days of testing in Barcelona earlier this year.
The test will be Ferrucci's F1 debut at the age of 18, having previously raced in Formula 2000, British F3, Toyota Racing Series and European F3 before graduating to GP3.
"Becoming a Formula One driver is my ultimate goal and I can’t thank Haas F1 Team enough for this opportunity," Ferrucci said. "Nothing beats seat time, and the experience of driving a Formula One car and working with Haas F1 Team will be invaluable."
Team principal Guenther Steiner says Ferrucci's previous results have earned him the chance to prove himself in an F1 car.
“We brought Santino on with Haas F1 Team because he’s done a very good job of proving himself in each of the racing series he’s competed in,” Steiner said. “We see Santino as a young, American driver with a lot of potential who has earned this opportunity.”
