We're getting ready for a spectacular floodlit qualifying session in Singapore, at the challenging Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Nico Rosberg comes into the weekend riding on a high after back-to-back wins at Spa and Monza. He was the fatest man on Friday, and was also top of this morning's FP3 session albeit only by 0.059s from Red Bull's Max Verstappen who is mounting a significant threat to Mercedes this week.

Verstappen's team mate Daniel Ricciardo and Ferrari's Kimi Raikonnen and Sebastian Vettel are also within striking distance of challenging for pole position today. Vettel won this race last year after a strange stumble by Mercedes, which the team will be hoping doesn't recur again this time.

Certainly it's not been a vintage weekend for Rosberg's team mate Lewis Hamilton so far. He's been struggling to get the car dialled in to his liking, and he's been a frequent visitor to run-offs and escape roads as he's locked up on several occasions.

Hamilton needs a good race this weekend to keep his lead in the world championship. Rosberg's brace of wins have cut the gap between the pair to just two points, so Hamilton needs to find something extra if he is to have a chance of derailing Roberg's current momentum.

That's not to say Rosberg's had it all his own way this weekend - he also suffered a lock-up in FP1, which in his case left him nose-first into the wall. No real hard was done, and one new front wing later he was back underway. Romain Grosjean had less luck when he spun the Haas in FP2 and destroyed his rear wing and suspension on the barriers meaning he missed out on all but four laps of running on Friday. Manor's Pascal Wehrlein also had a spin this morning and clouted his own rear win on the barriers, but the team was able to get the car patched out again before the end of the session.

Jenson Button's also been finding it hard to get up to speed around here, but his McLaren team mate Jenson Button is showing better pace although probably not enough to challenge the likes of Toro Rosso, Force India and WIlliams all of whom have a chance of getting some good points this weekend - providing they secure themselves a decent starting grid position in today's qualifying.

The session gets underway at 21:00 local time (2pm BST), and of course you can follow everything that happens in qualifying as-it-happens with F1i's live commentary page. if you have any questions and comments about the events, you can even submit them and we'll try and answer them during the hour.
