Jamie Chadwick enjoyed a historic clean sweep in last weekend’s Indy NXT race at Road America, the Williams F1 development driver securing his first win in the series with a lights-to-flag victory.

But the 26-year-old Briton, who started from pole, became only the third woman to win in the IndyCar feeder series and the first female driver to triumph on a road course.

While Chadwick dominated proceedings, she wasn't handed an easy win. A red flag forced a dramatic two-lap sprint to the finish, where she showcased her skill and nerves to secure her maiden victory from runner-up Louis Foster.

"Oh man, I have no words," said the Andretti Global charger. "Honestly, [I'm] a bit emotional I think. We've had an unbelievable car this year and just haven't been able to really do anything about it so I'm just so happy we held on there.

"With the red flag at the end, I was like 'oh, come on', we started to lose the tyres a little bit. Louis had a look and I just knew I had to be aggressive. I know they have a championship to worry about and I just had to get my head down. I really wanted to win today."
