The only thing that will be remembered from Lewis’s 2017 Hungarian GP is the sportsmanlike gesture he made in giving back third place to Valtteri once the Ferraris were out of his reach. Three points that could cost him dearly (it would have been hard to imagine such a scenario with Nico Rosberg). For the rest, the instability of the Mercedes’ made Hamilton soon aware that there wasn’t much to hope for, especially after qualifying behind Bottas.
