Daniel Ricciardo will be powered by an updated Renault ICE this weekend at Paul Ricard, at no extra penalty cost for the Aussie.

In addition to a raft of aero updates implemented on its R.S.19 for its home race, Renault will also hopefully benefit from a dose of extra power, courtesy of its new engine.

"We will introduce a new Spec B ICE this weekend on Daniel’s car. This ICE represents a good step forward on performance," said Renault F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul.

“Nico will take his new engine at a different race, but as he will incur a penalty for exceeding the three ICEs permitted per year, we don’t want it to be in France, our home race."

Renault's engine upgrade was originally planned at a later date .

"The ICE was scheduled for use at a later race, but we are ahead of schedule, so are pleased to be able to use it here," added Abiteboul.
