Mercedes Formula E drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries will be in action next Tuesday in Abu Dhabi where the pair will test for the Mercedes F1 team.

The one-day test has seen its rules amended to allow the participation of young drivers who have previously competed in more than two Grands Prix.

But the test will not be open to any driver who competed full-time in the 2020 season.

Reserve driver Vandoorne had been considered as a potential substitute for Lewis Hamilton for the Sakhir GP until the Brackley squad drafted in Williams' George Russell.

De Vries, a former McLaren junior driver, will make his F1 test debut at Yas Marina.

"This will become my Formula 1 debut," de Vries wrote on social media. "Can’t thank Mercedes enough for the faith and opportunity. Dreams come true."

Sebastian Buemi and Robert Kubica will also feature in Tuesday's test, running respectively for Red Bull and Alfa Romeo, while F1 veteran Fernando Alonso will enjoy mileage onboard Renault's 2020 contender.
