Formula 1 and the FIA have officially released the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, confirming a packed 24-round season that combines familiar favorites, new logistics efficiencies, and one major new addition: the arrival of Madrid as a Grand Prix host.

The season will run from March 6 to December 6, once again visiting five of the world’s seven continents.

In a year marked by sweeping technical changes – including the introduction of 100% advanced sustainable fuels and all-new power unit regulations – the global championship is poised for a transformative chapter both on and off the track.

Madrid Joins the Grid as Europe Gets a Summer Shake-Up

The most headline-grabbing change to F1’s agenda is the addition of Madrid, which will host its first Formula 1 Grand Prix on September 13, bringing the sport to the streets of the Spanish capital for the first time.

F1’s European schedule has been refined to improve travel logistics and reduce freight demands. One key example is the repositioning of the Canadian Grand Prix to follow Miami, now set for May 22-24. This adjustment allows for smoother transitions between North American races and contributes to F1’s ongoing push for greater sustainability.

In consideration of the Ramadan period, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will be held later in the year, taking place in April rather than the early season. This move respects cultural timing while maintaining competitive consistency.

Following Europe, the championship continues with stops in Azerbaijan and Singapore, before heading west for an intense triple-header in the Americas. The season then wraps up with the popular night race in Las Vegas, followed by the Qatar Grand Prix, and concludes at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi from December 4-6.

A New Era For Formula 1

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “2026 will be a new era for Formula 1 where we will witness a brand-new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines that will be powered by 100% sustainable fuel.

“We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar, and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac and Ford join the Formula 1 grid.

“It promises to be an unforgettable season, where once again we will come together at 24 amazing global venues to watch the best drivers in the world push themselves to the limit and produce incredible wheel to wheel racing for our millions of fans watching around the globe.

“I want to thank all our fans for their passionate support and the FIA, with all the volunteers, marshals and officials, as well as the promoters, partners, sponsors, host cities and the local motor racing federations for their commitment and support in delivering this schedule in what I know will be another historic year for Formula 1.”

As Formula 1 continues to evolve – technologically, environmentally, and geographically – the 2026 calendar reflects the sport’s growing ambition to balance tradition with innovation. With Madrid stepping into the spotlight, and a more efficient global flow of events, the stage is set for a landmark season in modern F1 history.
