Red Bull ace Daniel Ricciardo says he is a fan of having back-to-back Formula One grand prix weekends, as it helps “keep the ball rolling”.

Coming off a fast-paced Montreal-Baku sequence, teams and drivers are now gearing up for a busy month of July, which will see them contest four races in five weeks, with Austria and Great Britain back-to-back, and Hungary and Germany also seven days apart.

“I love back-to-back weekends,” Ricciardo said. “It’s awesome to keep the ball rolling, if there was a three week break it would eat at me.”

Despite Austria being Red Bull’s home race, the energy drinks giant has not fared greatly since the event returned to the F1 calendar in 2014 with Ricciardo finishing eighth and 10th respectively over the past two years.

However, the Australian is confident his team heads to Spielberg on a much stronger footing this season.

“The circuit is quite short but is also fun. I would love a few more corners but it is a fun track for what it is, quite flowing and fast.

“We haven’t had the results we would like [at the Red Bull Ring] in the past but I think we’re coming there with our best package yet so hopefully that can put us up into the top five.”
