Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne has announced that the Scuderia’s 2017-spec challenger will be unveiled on February 24 during a filming day at its private track of Fiorano.
Marchionne broke the news on Monday during Ferrari’s Christmas lunch where he also confirmed rising star Antonio Giovinazzi as Maranello’s new third driver.
Ferrari thus becomes the first team to reveal a launch date for an eagerly-waited campaign that will see the introduction of faster and more aggressive cars in a bid to make the sport more challenging for the drivers and spectacular for the fans.
Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen will return for a third consecutive season as team-mates, with pre-season testing set to get under way on February 27 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Ferrari has not won the Drivers’ title since Raikkonen’s 2007 triumph, while its last Constructors’ championship dates back to 2008.
