Verstappen's weekend started with much promise on Friday but he couldn't adapt as quickly as Sainz when struggling in qualifying and started five spots behind his team-mate. Trying to make up ground in the race, he lost control at Turn 2 - where he'd looked on edge all weekend - and retired soon after the high-speed off.
