Despite making it to the Top Ten shootout, Sainz was no match for the speed of Nico Hülkenberg. Excessive wheelspin at the start cost Carlos several positions before he encountered traffic after both of his stops. Despite it all, he was on his way to scoring a point in the final laps but his softs tyre were obviously on life support. He failed to keep Esteban Ocon from stealing the ultimate point.
