The German was consistently superior to his highly regarded Spanish team mate and had he put in as strong a lap in Q3 as he did in Q2, Nico could have started ahead of Gasly and Magnussen. In the race, the “Hulk” held his own in the mid-field scrum to take the final position on the same lap as the leaders.
