Not terribly pleased with his McLaren-Renault in qualifying, Alonso did what Alonso does on race day in ringing every bit of performance out of his car. He picked up four spots on the opening lap. From there on he was in the points and spent nearly all his race in Hülkenberg’s dirty air, but never found a way around the Renault.
