George Russell, Mercedes – 8.5/10
rollercoaster race for George. He botched the start, fought back to second, and then got screwed by the Safety Car timing. His battle with Leclerc for the final podium spot was the highlight of the race. He missed the trophy, as he battled a succession of nagging electronic issues, but his aggression and pace were undeniable.

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari – 9/10
Leclerc was the busiest man in Japan. He fought both Mercedes, both McLarens, and his own teammate. His defense against Russell in the closing laps was clinical, securing a well-deserved podium. He’s currently the only driver consistently making the Silver Arrows sweat.
