F1i Driver Ratings for the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin – 5/10

Finishing a lap down is "progress"? Standards have certainly shifted for the double champ. Alonso dragged the recalcitrant Aston to the finish line, which is a testament to his persistence, but he was never a factor. Formula 1’s new dad will have been more than happy to sprint to the airport to fly home get as far away from this car as possible.

Sergio Perez, Cadillac – 5/10

Perez is doing exactly what Cadillac hired him for: bringing the car home and gaining data. 17th isn't pretty, and he’s miles off the sharp end, but he kept it clean while others were spinning or breaking. It’s a thankless task, but like Bottas he’s performing the "development driver" role with veteran patience.
