WILLIAMS JACKS UP ITS DAMPER
In designing the FW41, the Grove-based team's engineers started from scratch and adopted more modern solutions, used by the competition for several seasons. The elevation of the dive damper is one of them (compare the red arrows).
It allows to raise the suspension triangles and, in doing so, to release the passage for air flowing along the flanks (i.e. the “undercut” in the jargon). To be able to put the shock absorber higher, the monocoque has a typical cut, common on most other Formula 1.
