Sebastian Vettel believes the consistency Ferrari showed in 2015 is a better sign for its future than his three race victories.
The four-time world champion moved from Red Bull to Ferrari after 2014 and was on the podium at the first race in Australia before winning in Malaysia. Two further wins followed in Hungary and Singapore, while he only failed to finish on the podium on six occasions.
A retirement in Mexico aside, Vettel only missed out on a top five finish in Belgium where he suffered a tyre failure late in the race, and he feels the results are proof Ferrari is heading in the right direction.
"With Ferrari to win is something special," Vettel told Auto Bild Motorsport. "That's why I now also want to find out what it feels like to win a championship with them."
Asked what makes him so optimistic for 2016, Vettel replied: "No one expected three victories [in 2015].
"Almost more important is the consistency that we had. This shows that we are on the right track."
Vettel recently warned Ferrari not to get ahead of itself in chasing championships, while president Sergio Marchionne says it wants to be the team to beat at the first round in Melbourne.
