Kevin Magnussen will return to the pleasures of single-seater racing next weekend at Road America where the Dane will make his IndyCar debut with Arrow McLaren SP.
The former Haas driver, who triumphed with Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Renger van der Zande in a round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportcar championship last weekend in Detroit, will sub for Arrow McLaren SP's Felix Rosenqvist who has yet to fully recover from the massive crash he last weekend at Belle-Isle.
Magnussen will join at next weekend's IndyCar round in Wisconsin former Haas teammate and Dale Coyne Racing charger Romain Grosjean.
Magnussen will get his first test of AMSP's #7 Dallara-Chevrolet during Friday's afternoon practice session.
"Big challenge to go straight into a race having never driven an Indy car before, but I couldn’t say no to the opportunity," Magnussen wrote on Twitter. "Get well soon, Felix."
There will also be a change at Ed Carpenter Racing at Road America, with former AMSP driver Oliver Askew subbing for Rinus VeeKay following an injury sustained by the Dutchman in a cycling accident earlier this week.
