No contact with Ferrari - Perez

Sergio Perez says he has yet to have any contact with Ferrari regarding a potential seat at the team in 2017.

Following a number of impressive performances this season - including two podiums in the past three races - Perez has been linked with a potential move to Maranello to replace Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn's contract expires at the end of the season but when asked if he had any contact with Ferrari, Perez replied: “No ... just rumours."

However, Perez appreciates any speculation linking him to Ferrari is a sign he is performing well at present.

“I think always when you do well in a race in F1, you are straight away linked to Ferrari. It’s the biggest team in F1 so if you are linked to Ferrari it means you are doing well and I think it is the same for many other drivers, that if your performance is going well and that’s the good thing about it."

And the Mexican - who is currently eighth in the drivers' championship - says he is not dismissing his chances of making the move to Ferrari next year.

“In F1 you cannot rule out anything, I’ve learned from that in the past. You never know what will happen in the future so we will see how things develop for the future. I think we are getting closer to take a decision to where we come to with my future and then we will see if there is an opportunity or not.”
