The mid-field battle was so tight that the German was a mere tenth of a second short of getting to Q3. His race was complicated when he tried to slip between the two Toro Rossos, he was overtaken by Alonso. Despite being faster, he couldn’t get past the McLaren. Switching to two stops, he caught up to the Spaniard and Ocon late in the race but he finished one second adrift of the Frenchman and the final point.
