This season opener seemed to be an endless tunnel for the Brit. Some of it was his doing. In becoming the first to crash a 2017 chassis on Friday, his mechanics worked into the late hours and he was left with an un-driveable car for qualifying. He got off to a good start quickly gaining positions, but was forced to retire with brake issues.
