Qualifying was a bit complicated for the French teenager, who at one moment had to deal with burning brakes, but he did advance to Q3 just behind his team mate. When the lights went out, Esteban pounced, leaving Pérez behind and briefly getting ahead of Hülkenberg. Despite a ton of pressure from the Mexican over 51 laps, he never flinched. This kid is the real deal.
