Vettel won’t have an imperishable recollection of the British GP and vice versa. He was beaten in qualifying by Räikkönen, and then surprised by Verstappen at the start with whom he had a solid duel. He gained an upper hand via pit stop tactics, but only Kimi’s puncture would have seen him to the podium had his left front tyre not exploded. The six points he salvaged could be critical come the end of the campaign, or they could be insufficient.
