Carlos was in a weekend-long spat with local hero Massa. First in qualifying when the Brazilian accused him of deliberately blocking, then early on in the race when the Williams pushed him wide damaging the RS17’s floor. Lacking speed, Sainz was never on point and could do nothing to stop his team mate from pulling away.
