Put behind the eight ball by yet another engine penalty, Ricciardo started 14th and was prepared for a charge when he got tagged in the opening lap incident with Vandoorne and Magnussen and dropped down the order. But the Honey Badger never gives up and he proceeded to carve his way through the field, delivering a few of his customary spectacular overtaking maneuvers in the process. Sixth was as high as he could get.
