Delayed with a gearbox dilemma during free-practice, the German still managed to finish best of the rest in qualifying. Ocon got him at turn one, but he had the last laugh when Force India was off its game in the pits and proved that Renault was undoubtedly the fourth best squad in Montreal…albeit a lap down from the leading trio.
