Struggling just as much to find speed as his team mate, Vandoorne did manage to edge out Alonso in Q2 by 0.009s. But on Sunday he had to stop for new rubber after running over debris on the opening lap accident. From there he was never on pace with the Spaniard and even made a second stop that was for naught.
