F1i reviews the 2015 F1 season for each team and gives a mark out of ten
Mercedes - 9/10
It has been an incredible year for Mercedes as it again wrapped up both championships in dominant fashion. Coming off the back off such an impressive 2014, Mercedes might have been the hot favourite this year but it was also not widely expected to be able to match last year’s achievements, let alone surpass them. However, 19 races saw 12 one-two finishes and the team ended 2015 with two more points than the season before despite 2014 seeing double points awarded in Abu Dhabi.
There were a few mistakes and anomalies, with the decision to pit Lewis Hamilton under the safety car in Monaco robbing him of what would have been a dominant victory, while the lack of competitiveness in Singapore remains a mystery. Whatever the reasons for the Marina Bay blip, the team would have finished 1-2 in every race from that point onwards but for a reliability issue for Nico Rosberg in Russia, such was its dominance.
The team appears to have two slight weaknesses in reliability and the dynamic between its drivers, but they rarely impact on results. Boring races or not, you cannot ignore what an excellent job this team has done.
