2015 F1 season: F1i’s teams review

Motor Racing - Formula One World Championship - Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Race Day - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Force India - 9/10

What a turnaround in performance Force India delivered in 2015. In the eight races up to and including the Austrian Grand Prix, the launch-spec VJM08 was not exactly quick but the team did a highly commendable job in picking up points when they were on offer to sit fifth in the constructors’ championship. But it was the second half of the season where Force India really managed to shine.

The B-spec car was introduced at Silverstone and was clearly an improvement, but reliability problems in Hungary left its potential unknown through the summer break. From Spa onwards there was always one Force India in the top seven at every round, capped by a superb third place for Sergio Perez in Russia.

If there is one criticism it is at the team’s tendency to fail to maximise its potential with both cars, as on only three occasions did it manage to secure a double points finish in the races following the mid-season factory shutdown.
