Lando Norris, McLaren (P2): 8/10
Norris overdrove his MCL39 on his final qualifying run, handing pole position to his teammate Piastri. He followed this up with a poor race start, losing second place to the Red Bull of Verstappen. Norris switched on from this point, easily passing Verstappen on lap 13 and keeping close tabs to Piastri in the first half of the Grand Prix. However the gap was too large for the Briton to close, and even when it was artificially closed by the Safety Car the McLaren driver was unable to make an impression on the leader at the restart.

Oscar Piastri, McLaren (P1): 10/10
Piastri had the measure of his more experienced teammate in Spain. His pole lap on Saturday was seriously impressive, over two tenths faster than Norris in equal machinery and the biggest pole margin of the year so far. A lightning fast launch on Sunday sealed the deal for the Australian, who was never under threat from anyone else for the win and looked supremely comfortable behind the wheel of his MCL39 in typical Piastri fashion. The Aussie has the mentality of a future World Champion and his outstanding results so far this season are putting him on a clear path to glory.
