Force India technical director Andy Green says the team's 2016 car is "a refinement" of last year's B-spec design.
Having started the 2015 season with an underdeveloped car, Force India finished extremely strongly after introducing a B-spec at the British Grand Prix. The team secured fifth place in the constructors' championship and Green says the success of that upgrade has given it clear direction for this season.
“It’s a continuation of where we left off," Green told F1i's Eric Silbermann during an exclusive interview. "Which means I can afford to take my eye off of the build of this car and look towards the updates and what we’re doing in the future, because the fundamental running gear of the car is the same.
"We’re not trying something massively different to what we’ve done before. It’s a refinement.”
One area where Green says there have been some changes is with the Mercedes power unit, which he believes will provide Force India with a further step forward.
“Mercedes always change little bits and pieces which we’re on top of but nothing major. There’s always the few bombshells that they’ll throw in just before Christmas but we’re big enough to cope with all that. We sort of expect it now because we’ve been working with them for such a long time.”
