10 — The tranquil force of Mercedes

Mercedes does not trumpet about its updates, yet the defending champions are constantly introducing new elements in order to refine their dominant package. In Austria, the W06 Hybrid featured a slimmer engine cover at the rear. The monocoque is narrower around the wishbones, which means the overall chassis is tighter but also needs better internal cooling.

Speaking of which, the size of the ERS cooler had been increased in Canada but not the bodywork around it, probably out of precaution. It is now the case, as highlighted by the longer distance between the monocoque and blue-coloured vane. This area of the car had already been trimmed down between the two Barcelona pre-season tests. This also means that the pullrod suspension is now more exposed.
