Lance Stroll (P11): 6.5/10
Racing Point finally appear to be gradually creeping their way back into form, but it's slow progress and taking a long time for any improvements to filter their way down to Lance Stroll. Only 14th in first practice, he was in the top ten in FP2 and FP3 but couldn't reproduce that speed in qualifying and left the field at the end of Q2. Having clinched 14th place on the grid for Sunday's race, the turn 4 incident helped him pick up three places straight away, and he held on to 11th place until the pit stops began and he rose up as high as sixth. Unfortunately his own pit stop then dropped him back outside the points, and the new set of soft tyres he had taken on were of little use as he found himself unable to hold off Nico Hulkenberg after the safety car restart and thereafter stuck in traffic for much of the rest of the afternoon. Unhappy with the balance of the car, Stroll ended up one place short of picking up a championship point. Meanwhile his team mate was successfully pushing on to seventh place, perhaps showing the true potential of the RP19 in more able hands.
