Daniel Ricciardo (Retired, Lap 25): 6/10
Daniel Ricciardo had only one sort of luck in Sochi, and it was all bad. Just nothing seemed to go right for him this weekend. He struggled through practice and never quite got on top of his Renault team mate Nico Hulkenberg at any point. However when it came to qualifying, he was able to slip into the final round and secure himself a top ten starting spot. Except even that backfired as it put him right in the thick of things going into turn 4 for the first time, and the ensuing collision with Antonio Giovinazzi left him with a punctured left rear tyre and extensive damage to the floor of the R.S.19. "In terms of the accident, I was just a passenger," he insisted later. After the team carried out running repairs under the safety car, he carried on for another 24 laps; but the situation was hopeless, and it was no surprise when the team called him in and gave him the rest of the afternoon off.
